The link provided below sheds light on these looming challenges: Link to Source: The Coming Water Wars

As we delve into the insights shared by NDTV, it becomes increasingly clear that we're inching toward a critical juncture. The water scarcity conundrum presents a complex puzzle with not one, but numerous solutions. The urgency of the situation is dawning upon more and more people, driving the pursuit of alternatives to secure drinking water. The result? A surge in companies entering the industry, aiming to provide a lifeline in this crisis. However, it's important to discern fact from exaggeration. While some newcomers make grandiose claims, it's crucial to tread carefully and avoid falling for misleading information that can tarnish the reputation of this vital technology.

The challenges are real, but so are the solutions. In some regions, accessing water from the air might seem implausible, and in others, it might not be cost-effective or feasible. The triumvirate of low humidity, low temperature, and high altitude stands as the technology's three formidable foes.

Water scarcity is no longer a distant issue – it's a global concern that's impacting regions worldwide. The factors contributing to this crisis are numerous: population growth, urbanization, industrialization, climate change, and inefficient water management practices. The repercussions are far-reaching, affecting society and the environment at large.

According to the latest data from the World Resources Institute's Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas, a pressing water emergency looms large on the global stage. A staggering 25 nations, encompassing a quarter of the world's population, are currently grappling with alarmingly elevated levels of annual water stress. But the crisis doesn't stop there. Approximately 50% of the world's population – that's 4 billion individuals – experience water stress for at least one month each year. Shockingly, this figure could climb to nearly 60% by 2050.

The figures speak volumes: by 2050, a whopping $70 trillion in GDP, equivalent to 31% of global GDP, will be exposed to high water stress. This is a significant leap from the $15 trillion (24% of global GDP) reported in 2010. The economic implications are undeniable, with countries like India, Mexico, Egypt, and Turkey slated to bear the brunt of this crisis.

The report also spotlights 25 nations, a quarter of the world's population, that undergo severe water stress annually. Notably, regions like Bahrain, Cyprus, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Oman face the most dire impacts. Even a brief drought could push these areas to the brink of water scarcity.

The regions facing the highest water stress are predominantly in the Middle East and North Africa, where a staggering 83% of the population grapples with extreme water stress. Similarly, South Asia isn't far behind, with a significant 74% of its population exposed to such conditions.

Samantha Kuzma, Aqueduct data lead from WRI's water program and a report author, aptly puts it, "Water is arguably our most important resource on the planet, and yet we're not managing it in a way that reflects that." The pressing need for a change in approach is undeniable.

Amidst these challenges, a beacon of hope emerges – your very own water maker. A solution that transcends geographical limitations, humidity levels, and altitudes. Imagine having the power to secure your water source, irrespective of external circumstances. This isn't just a product; it's a lifeline. As the world grapples with water scarcity, you can take charge of your water destiny with cutting-edge technology that doesn't just offer a solution, but a future.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956020047302351851.post-86846017171430248942023-05-01T09:30:00.001-07:002023-05-01T09:30:29.988-07:00ABC News: 'Now we know': Walgett mum says town's drinking water was slowly destroying son's health
'Now we know': Walgett mum says town's drinking water was slowly destroying son's health

Walgett residents have shared distressing stories with the NSW Water Minister about the impact of water quality in the town, including one mother who says she had no idea she was "pumping sodium" through her ill son. Read the full story
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956020047302351851.post-91182718596867613862023-02-03T08:20:00.006-08:002023-02-03T08:23:51.936-08:00New Distributor for Noosa and North Queensland

Click on the image to enlarge.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956020047302351851.post-23660178863231084282023-01-04T06:32:00.006-08:002023-01-04T06:34:21.320-08:00Drink water, live longer?
If you drink water will you live longer? They can also carry viruses, a University of Queensland study has revealed.

The study, led by Associate Prof Jianhua Guo and Dr Ji Lu from UQ’s Australian Centre for Water and Environmental Biotechnology (ACWEB), investigated if microplastics can harbour viruses, including the one found inside E. coli bacteria.

“We often hear about the human and environmental harm caused by microplastics in water. But there is little known about whether the tiny microplastic particles can carry viruses,” Dr Guo said.

“We found that viruses can hitchhike on microplastics and prolong their infectivity. It means there could be an increased risk of virus transmission throughout waterways and the environment.”

Dr Lu said they used the E. coli bacteriophage in the study, a virus that infects and replicates within the bacteria and is not harmful to humans.

“By testing polystyrene particles of varying sizes, we found that more than 98 per cent of the virus we used was found on the microplastic, and over half of the viruses could still be detected ten days later – much longer than if the virus particles were free-floating in the water,” Dr Lu said.

The team also tested how sun exposure and the size of microplastics helped prolong the virus’s survival. They found the more environmental damage on the microplastic, the more likely it was to carry viruses.

The preventive solution for your drinking water is an Water from Air Machine.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956020047302351851.post-52765553926486435062022-11-04T06:46:00.003-07:002022-11-04T06:46:46.493-07:00Microplastics have been found in human breast milk.
A shocking new study confirms some of researchers' worst fears: microplastics have been found in human breast milk.

Scientists and environmental activists have been warning the world about the dangers of microplastics for well over a decade. These tiny chemical contaminants have been found on the tops of remote mountains, in ocean water thousands of miles from human settlements, in table salt -- and even in the organs of human beings. Now that we know microplastics are transferring to newborn babies, who rely on breast milk or formula for the first months of their life, there is no excuse not to tackle this problem head on -- our babies deserve better.

The good news is that we know legislation can be effective at reducing plastic pollution. The Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015 was a great step in this direction, and now we need further legislation targeting the sources of this microplastic pollution that is ending up in tiny babies' bodies. Sign the petition now to tell Congress and the Environmental Protection Agency: work together to reduce microplastic pollution in our environments from the source!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956020047302351851.post-29612399377769907982022-10-26T06:54:00.001-07:002022-10-26T06:54:37.658-07:00“The Water Roulette”
From Bill Straits Book “The Water Roulette” available on Amazon… January 1st 2015

...”The likely world leader in this technology is an Australian company, World Environmental Solutions Pty Ltd, who pioneered during what in Australia was labelled the Millennium Drought: a 10-year affair in Australia in the early to mid 2000s. The result was a company that realised making water was desired as drinking water in many cases but the normal method was cost-prohibitive, with electricity costs soaring. One thing was a certain obstacle: the “Watts = Litres” formula. This company today is furthering research and development into its systems of water from the air using minimal power/electricity.

Their water booster (WB) can double the RH at sites where normal operation of an AWG would be inefficient and not advised. That is, the WB can alter 20% RH into 43% RH prior to condensing or 40% RH into 83% RH prior to condensing. (Patent applied for.) This is a real issue for the Sub-Sahara, outback Australia and other arid areas.

The company’s mainstream development was by use of an air-cooled system known as a MultiGen. This consisted of a multi-patented air-cooled absorption chiller and an air cooled AWM operated free from the waste heat of a Turbine or reciprocating generator exhaust. The by-product of this process is to provide cool, air-conditioned air to a space, while making water, all operated from waste energy of an existing Generator, to activate the process they use to operate the condensing cycle. This process dramatically drops the use of electricity by some 95%, as the energy source is waste heat captured.”

This particular company has a patented system using Hydro gel filters. These hydro gels can absorb moisture as the air passes through the filter impregnated with Hydrogel substance. These hydro gels are impregnated into the filter material and absorb moisture as air passed through it; a small amount of electrical power is periodically applied to the filter sub-straight to “desorb” the moisture from the hydro gels. This pulsing effect resulted in water from the air with minimal energy usage. This pulsing system can also be used in front of most AC systems air intake and thus produce water for a very low cost and at very low RH normally necessary for AWG operation. While still in the R&D phase, prototypes are in operation as proof of concept. “

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956020047302351851.post-17233514597431663702022-10-13T13:51:00.003-07:002022-10-13T13:51:25.235-07:00CSIRO News Release - Fishing gear lost at sea globally revealed

<td style="font-family: "Google Sans", Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; margin: 0px;">

<p style="color: #575757; font-family: "Open Sans", Calibri, "Helvetica Neue", arial; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: -0.19px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 0px;">Fishing line that could wrap around the Earth 18 times is lost in the world’s oceans every year, according to research by CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, and the University of Tasmania.
<p style="color: #575757; font-family: "Open Sans", Calibri, "Helvetica Neue", arial; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: -0.19px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 0px;">The research published today estimates that nearly two per cent of commercial fishing gear is lost or discarded every year, where it becomes a major component of global marine plastic pollution.
<p style="color: #575757; font-family: "Open Sans", Calibri, "Helvetica Neue", arial; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: -0.19px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 0px;">Denise Hardesty from CSIRO said this research is the most comprehensive examination of quantitative amounts of abandoned, lost or discarded fishing gear globally to date.
<p style="color: #575757; font-family: "Open Sans", Calibri, "Helvetica Neue", arial; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: -0.19px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 0px;">“We found that 14 billion longline hooks, 25 million pots and traps and almost 740,000 km of fishing longlines end up in our oceans through global commercial fishing activities each year,” said Dr Hardesty.
<p style="color: #575757; font-family: "Open Sans", Calibri, "Helvetica Neue", arial; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: -0.19px; line-height: 23px; margin-bottom: 0px;">The research used global fishing effort data and interviews with 450 fishers from seven countries around the world including the USA, Indonesia and Morocco.
